  • What type of food do you feed? How much food should I feed my kitten?

We mix dry kibble from Fromm Trout & Whitefish with Nulo wet food (various flavors). Kittens should have unlimited access to dry kibble at all times, with a wet food supplement once or twice a day (one spoonful at each offering).

  • Why don’t you feed raw? I have heard it’s the best option out there!

Raw is an excellent choice! We don't feed raw because we understand it's not a viable option for everyone, and we don't want our kittens to struggle transitioning from raw to kibble food in their new homes. It's fantastic if you want to feed your kitty a raw diet! Because your kitten's first few weeks in their new home are already full of change, we recommend sticking with kibble for at least the first two weeks before making any nutritional modifications. Any diet adjustments should be implemented gradually!

  • Do I need a cat tree? Do they use them? Is there a certain brand you recommend?

Our cats and kittens have many cat trees, which they utilize frequently. This is not, however, a prerequisite! If you do decide to purchase a cat tree, we recommend Cat Tree King, but there are several other brands that are equally as good.

  • What grooming does my kitten need?

Every 1-2 weeks, you should trim their front claws. Because most cats groom themselves, the frequency with which they need to be clipped varies greatly. We recommend checking them when clipping the front claws and clipping the back claws if needed.

Comb/brush your kitten at least once a week, paying specific attention to the belly and armpits, as this is where mats are most likely to form.

Professional grooming, lion cuts, and other procedures are not recommended unless significant matting is present.

Most indoor cats do not require bathing. We bathe our cats around once a year, but this is primarily due to the naturally messy birthing process.

  • When do I need to take my kitten to the vet? What vaccinations do they need?

As part of our health guarantee, we ask that you take your kitten to the vet within 72 hours of its leaving us to ensure that they are healthy. They will require their third series of vaccines two weeks after arriving in their new home, but we will send particular information for each kitten.

  • Will my kitten already be spayed/neutered? What is the best time to spay/neuter my kitten?

We do not perform early spay/neuter. We don't think surgery is the best option for such young kittens. The registration papers will be held until proof of spay/neuter is supplied. The ideal time to spay/neuter a kitten is a widely disputed topic, and we want families to be free to discuss it with their veterinarian based on their kitten's unique circumstances. We recommend neutering males at six months and females at eight months as a general guideline.
